Think like a dog!
Think like a dog!!! Not once do I leave the house even to take the trash to the curb do my dogs forget to greet me when I return as though I was their long lost friend coming home. One dog in particular likes to carry something for me when I return home after a long day away. Sometimes I have to take off a shoe so she can have something to bring into the house. I don’t mind of course. She just wants to be helpful. One Saturday I was vacuuming and I accidentally hit one of my dogs right in the snoot. You know what she did? She immediately got up and began kissing my hand. Was she forgiving me? Did she think it was her fault? Does it really matter? Dogs are quick to forgive and always happy to see you. They are forever willing to do whatever you want to do even if they are sleeping. They will follow you anywhere, sleep at your side and even hang out with you when you are sick. Last week I was sick with vertigo and my oldest dog would not leave my side. She just sat there the whole time watching me. I tried to make her go outside in the morning to relieve herself but she would not leave her post as if it were her job to make sure I was alright. I got to thinking; if we made an effort to think like a dog just once a day, I’m sure the world would be a kinder place. We would not be so judgmental, we would forgive quickly, we would kiss more and we would get our much needed naps. I think I’ll try it.
